General
An asset that enables socialization and group work within a species. Communication consists of a sender, a message, a transmission channel, a receiver, and a context. As you may have understood, depending on the abilities and characteristics of each of these elements, communication can be unclear or deviate from the sender’s initial intention, influencing the perception and interpretation of the receiver. This is why attentive listening to the context and the other, with empathy, allows for a more accurate understanding, leading to clearer and more authentic communication. On the other hand, communication takes shape in language, whether gestural, oral, or visual, and it is better to understand its nuances to avoid misunderstandings. “Art-iculating” a language means knowing and mastering its written coding throughout history, while rewriting it through movements of growth, social struggles, and thought.
My added value, like yours, translates into the ability to understand the client’s challenges, anticipate their expectations, and propose innovative solutions that will resonate with the target audience. What added value do you bring to your audience? To create a strong message, it is necessary to build a connection with your audience. My role is key to highlighting the essence of your project, your values, and what sets you apart from others. What I propose is that each visual element constitutes a strategic communication that resembles you and fully reflects the essence of your business. My goal is to help you express this added value in a clear and impactful way, so that your audience immediately recognizes what you bring and can easily identify with it. Together, we will weave this authentic and memorable connection through carefully crafted visuals.
The creative process integrates a system of arborescent thinking, numerous phases of introspection and questioning/practice, developed tests, and trials. From the first intuitive sketches to a deep reflection leading to a simple and refined result. Because simplicity is, for our mind, the most difficult to preserve and, therefore, to achieve. What characterizes creativity is this synthesis that offers a new perspective. Creativity calls for the union and awakening of all our senses. A good dose of curiosity, a lot of intuition, both mastery and letting go, memory, and deconstruction of our past learnings. Creating transforms us into master builders.
Having communication materials (flyers, pictograms, illustrations...) does not necessarily mean having a visual identity. Building your identity means defining a coherent graphic language that conveys your values and your universe. This includes elements such as the logo, colors, typography, iconography, as well as a graphic charter that details the rules of use. This consistency across different materials strengthens your image, asserts your character, and differentiates you with authenticity.
My work involves studying the visual language and iconography that best translate your project, to create a final result that makes sense and meets your objectives. It’s not about creating a simple product image that vaguely responds to your ideas. My role is to materialize a visual solution that communicates your strategic needs in this project, respecting the visual and cultural codes that correspond to your message, ensuring clear readability. To do this, it is essential to maintain strong graphic consistency to effectively reference you in the market. That’s why it’s important, initially, to know your graphic charter or develop it, that is, to define or create your visual identity and positioning. Once your identity is defined, we will determine the objectives of this project and how you want to assert yourself creatively. From there, you can share images, colors, or elements that inspire you. Then, I will analyze the visual language and iconography of the project and begin to draft sketches as proposal leads, which we will refine together through your feedback. All this to achieve a creative and authentic visual that captures your audience’s interest and makes them talk about you.
In accordance with intellectual property law, the copyright is retained by the creator of the work, while the exploitation rights, including representation and reproduction rights, are transferred to you. This allows you to use the creations provided to you within the scope of your projects. However, the creator retains the right to represent your project as an example of their work in the context of their activity, especially for promotional or portfolio purposes. These rights are specified in the transfer agreement, and their transfer is regulated to ensure the protection of the work while allowing you free use according to the agreed terms.
The usage right, that is, the exploitation right, refers to how you can use the creations made. This involves the content (logo, illustration, poster, etc.), the use (quantity distributed and duration, regarding the reproduction right), and the destination (geographical area and distribution channels such as websites, social networks, printed materials, etc., regarding the representation right). These rights are transferred to you so that you can freely use the creations according to the agreed terms. In return, these rights are remunerated: for them to belong to you, you must purchase them. Without this remuneration, you will not be able to obtain these creations. The price of these rights is included in the quote.
Pricing is done on a flat-rate basis and varies depending on the nature of the work. Creation requires more time and expertise, as it includes research, reflection, and the development of a unique visual concept. Execution, on the other hand, refers to simpler tasks, such as integrating text into an existing layout or adjusting already made creations. For example, half a day is sufficient for simple projects, while a full day is necessary for more complex projects. Back-and-forth exchanges are also billed, as is execution. The quote therefore includes working time, modifications, travel, and transfer rights (exploitation: representation and reproduction), with a 10% VAT. For projects that may span several days or weeks, such as the creation of multiple visuals or a visual identity, a staggered payment can be considered to better distribute the investment. An initial payment is requested at the start of the project, ensuring the commitment of both parties.
It is undeniable that a project that stands out is based on in-depth study and rigorous development, combining creativity and visual expertise, and that has matured through feedback. This contrasts with a project based solely on imagination, without a solid foundation or strategic reflection. Every graphic project is part of a communication and marketing dynamic, and therefore deserves a thoughtful approach to ensure its impact and relevance.
Visual communication
Design is a multidisciplinary process, both creative and scientific, aimed at developing functional creations by studying user interaction and experience. It combines aesthetics and utility, innovating while respecting the environment and human needs. Good design transforms, adapts to social evolutions, and addresses contemporary issues, integrating harmoniously into cultural and technological contexts.
Visual language refers to the use of visual elements (images, colors, shapes, etc.) to convey a message. Visual communication relies on the strategic use of this language to capture attention, influence emotion, and deliver a message clearly and impactfully.
Semiology is the study of signs and their meaning in a communication context. Semantics focuses on the deep meanings of signs, allowing us to understand the messages conveyed by visual language and interpret them correctly.
Communication channels refer to the different means by which a message is transmitted to an audience. This can include traditional media (posters, brochures) as well as digital media (social networks, emails, websites), each with specificities and advantages depending on the type of message to be conveyed.
Sensory perception refers to how we receive and interpret information from our senses (sight, touch, hearing, etc.). Accessibility, in this context, refers to the adaptation of a communication or product to make it understandable and usable by the greatest number of people, including those with disabilities. Together, they ensure an inclusive, fluid, and harmonious experience.
Brand identity is the set of visual, verbal, and sensory elements that allow a brand to differentiate itself and be easily recognizable. It reflects the values, mission, and universe of the brand, and is an essential tool in communication strategy.
The tone of voice represents how a message is formulated and communicated, influencing the emotional perception of the receiver. It must be consistent with the brand or project identity and evoke the right emotions at the right time.
The creative tone corresponds to the artistic and stylistic approach used to convey a visual message. It encompasses the atmosphere, style, and aesthetic choices that define the visual identity of a project.
Iconemes are the basic visual elements that make up an image, often associated with specific meanings. Iconography, on the other hand, is the study of images and symbols in a cultural, artistic, or historical context, analyzing how they convey messages and meanings across time and space.
The graphic charter is a document that defines the set of rules for using a brand’s visual elements, such as colors, typography, logos, and other visual elements. It ensures consistency and uniformity in visual communication across all media.
